Most flatbed scanners can do a decent job with old photos, and if you have one that can scan negatives, you can faithfully import old photos and re-print them good-as-new. The drawback? Every flatbed scanner I've used for the last decade is SLOW. Yeah, they can scan at a high resolution, but what good does that do if it'll take you months to scan in everything? And it's inevitable that you'll smudge the scanner glass swapping out all those photos. (Few doc feeders can accommodate photo paper without jamming.) The software needs to be installed for Win7. otherwise the driver won't be there. Also make sure the unit is directly plugged into a USB! A hub will cut down the power and the USB is only power source. This caused me a problem, each time I inserted a paper to scan, the scanner would shut off. Problem fixed by directly plugging it in. It won't auto choose black/wht or color, that has to be done on the setup icon. Hit the cancel button once done scanning ( I am guessing it is set up for a normal size sheet of paper). |
