This is the new top-of-the-line for the Canon MG PIXMA line with a lot of bang for the buck. This is the Fall 2015 replacement for the MG7520 (which was the Fall 2014 replacement for the MG7120).

This model will get you the BEST QUALITY PHOTOS from Canon without jumping into their PRO-1/PRO-10/PRO-100 models, whilst giving very strong text performance for an inkjet.

Compared to the MG7520 that it is replacing, the MG7720 has:

(1) New INKS (PGI-270, CLI-271) including a DARKER BLACK and a DEEPER (aka brighter/"redder") RED (magenta). For art, logos, decorative text, etc. the red will be BRIGHTER, more vivid. SETUP:
REALLY REALLY Easy, about 20 minutes total, reading VERY slowly and carefully the quickstart guide and just following simple instructions to set it up wirelessly to my home router. A HUGE improvement over prior Canon and HP printers I've had in the past. Really requires no configuration by you - you dodwnload a small application file from the Canon web site (instructions are in the quickstart guide that comes with the printer), and it walks you through every step with pictures of what buttons to press and what to click on - really could not be more simple and clear. You do NOT have to connect this by USB first, so there is no reason for you to buy a USB printer cable (unlike many other printers that require one for setup).

APPEARANCE , FUNCTION - great - see pictures. small and beautiful. Sure the glossy finish can get fingerprints - but who can see them on a black device?

This is a new printer to the Canon line, and I have used it about a week. Here are some quick impressions:

-Setup is relatively straightforward. To wet up wirelessly, you must alternative between the printer's control panel and whatever device (computer, tablet) you're using to set it up. Some of the responses take awhile, leaving you uncertain where you are in the process. In the end, though, setup worked and any device logged on to our home network can use it.
-Plain paper printing is very easy. It defaults to double-sided printing, which is a big plus. Our IMac had no trouble interacting with it to get the kind of printing I needed. ***UPDATE: Under OS X El Capitan, be certain you wait when adding the printer and select the "Canon IG Network" driver, nor the "Bonjour." The latter does not support double-sided printing. Canon tech support spent a great deal of time with me helping to figure this out.***
