The HP Envy 7640 is my third HP printer ever and the 2nd wireless printer I've installed. The first one I've used in my home is the HP Photosmart, which I like also. This model is superior in that it is Apple airprint-enabled and has a document feeder. Out of the box, I was able to set it up in about 1/2 hour, including downloading the software from the HP website. The touchscreen is super easy to use. Tip: don't install the ink cartridges before the touchscreen instructions tell you to or else it will say that your print carriage is jammed. The instructions are clear and if you don't understand, you have the option of watching an animated demonstration. It automatically aligns and calibrates the cartridges for you. Once you've added the printer to your computer, then you're good to go. I was able to print from my iPhone and my son from his as well because we were all on the same wireless network as the printer. I have purchased HP Printers in the past an prefer them over other models for several reasons. 1). Printer prices are generally reasonable for the number of features. 2). HP Ink cartridges are generally low cost compared to other brands. 3) Print quality has always been very good. 4) HP customer support is very good and easy to contact with minimal wait times. This printer offers all of the features that you could want at a great cost while providing excellent print quality. I hooked mine up in about 20 minutes and was connected via wifi and through my network and the HP app for printing from my smartphone. Print quality and speed for regular documents was very impressive. The photo printing took more time master and matched the print quality of my lower priced basic HP printer. Did not notice a significant difference; however, I will continue to experiment with it to see if the print quality improves. The scanner option works great and can be controlled by your HP file. It does print right from a smart phone and can be set up with just a smart phone. It would be about perfect if it were a bit faster and a laser printer instead of an inkjet. That said - it's an amazing product. The goal was to set this printer up and use it without ever connecting it to a laptop or desktop. Based on the instructions that came with the printer, it was not to be. Time to dig. It turned out to be much easier than anticipated once I quit "researching" and dove right in. The printer was packaged as printer/scanner/faxes are with lots of tape and cardboard protecting the mechanisms. First task - get that stuff off of there. Next step, plug it in and turn it on. The printer comes with a decent touch sensitive color display on the front and it walks you right through setup. But... this is a walk through that's pretty darn competent. It has little videos for how to do stuff like install the ink cartridges. Amazing. The videos even have...
